Oh great i reincarnated as a farmer7/4/2023 ![]() I was in some sort of medieval village-and a small one, judging by the size of the palisade I could see above the buildings. There were more houses to my left and a palisade and gate to my right. I heard metal being hammered beyond the dwellings and could see a line of black smoke above the rooves. Opposite the warehouse, across the dirt road, were more of the little log houses. ![]() The drivers were seated against the far warehouse wall sharing lunch, chatting, and making jokes. They were all positioned at the edge of a large turning bay in front of the warehouse. I spotted six more wagons in front of the one I occupied. I grabbed my forehead and turned, trying to gain my bearings and limit my nausea and migraine. Woodsmoke and manure filled my every breath along with a fair amount of something sour, making the experience uniquely horrible. Now, I was in the back of an empty wagon, stolen from the Skyrim intro, outside a log warehouse that was surrounded by a whole lot of small log houses that looked like they came from a pioneering film set. Top that sensation off with a hangover from a week-long bender and you will understand the kind of disorientation I was experiencing.Ĭongratulations, you have safely fast travelled to your destination.Ī second ago, I’d been sitting in Varla’s office accepting her offer to organise my trip, laughing at the fast travel mistranslation. It was the kind of spinning you only experience when everything changes instantly, like when you’re a passenger in a car and you fall asleep without realising, waking somewhere drastically different. ![]()

Dark water patricia highsmith7/4/2023 ![]() The high-octane drama of Highsmith’s novel provided rich fodder for Hitchcock’s now-iconic film adaptation ( the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2021), with a few key changes for the two main characters: in the movie, Haines is a celebrity tennis star who is incapable of murder, instead of an architect who kills to keep his secrets Bruno Antony, meanwhile, was renamed by Hitchcock as Charles Bruno Anthony, whose homoerotic tendencies were heightened for the film. After Antony murders Miriam, it sets off a chain of events that involves blackmail, homoerotic obsession, an investigation, and more murder. Antony suggests that the men “swap” murders-Antony killing Miriam and Haines killing Antony’s father-since neither would have a motive, freeing them both from becoming suspects, while Haines considers the proposition nothing more than a joke. ![]() ![]() ![]() In Highsmith’s novel, a fateful chance encounter between two disgruntled strangers on a train has deadly consequences architect Guy Haines wants to leave his cheating wife Miriam for his new love, Anne, while Bruno Antony, a wealthy psychopath wants to be rid of his overbearing father. Leaves of grass song of myself7/3/2023 ![]() ![]() Whtiman’s guesses range widely from “the flag of my disposition” to “the handkercheif of the Lord” to “a uniform hieroglyphic.” Interestingly, Whitman ties all of the guesses back to the human condition at least in some vague way. He makes several guesses as to what grass might be or represent. How Whitman chooses to answer the question is even more puzzling. Right away I find it intriguing that Whitman devotes an entire section of “Song of Myself” to answering the question of a child, especially a question that would normally be passed over by most adults. Whitman goes on to attempt to answer this question all though he makes it clear that he is unsure of the answer. Within this section Whitman tries to grasp “What is the grass?” spawning from a child’s question. From the title of “Leaves of Grass” it is obvious that grass has some significance to Whitman. ![]() ![]() The section of “Song of Myself” that stands out to me in particular is the sixth section where Whitman discusses grass. ![]()
